Service Dog Training
Varies /hr
Service animals are defined by the ADA as a dog trained to perform a task to help mitigate disabling symptoms for their handlers. These dogs perform an invaluable service for their handlers and receive a massive amount of training to be able to reliably and safely perform this duty. While these animals can be trained to do a number of things for the sake of their handlers SPA does not currently offer guide work training for visually impaired individuals or tethering tasks for individuals prone to bolting. If you are interested in having us work with your animal we will first need to ask you the two legal questions, evaluate the dog for temperament and see/perform an AKC canine good citizenship exam. Dogs may be put on the path towards this program at a very early age but will not be considered locked into it until the CGC is passed.

Entrance into this program is entirely trainers choice. If your dog does not meet temperament standards they may need more training before entering this program or may simply not be the ideal candidate for the work. Please keep in mind only about 5% of the dog world is up to snuff for the long hours and hard work involved in being a service animal.

This program is highly personalized and due to this the costs associated will vary largely team to team.
